Summer Sweet-Spot at This Boardwalk Beach Cafe

-

Sitting beachside at the Sunnyside Pavilion Cafe definitely gives off South Beach, Miami vibes with volleyball, rowers and beach soccer playfully happening just steps away from its patio.

At the center of Lakeshore’s 2.5-km Boardwalk, the cafe operates inside the historical Sunnyside Bathing Pavilion circa 1922 (the location for Miss Toronto’s first beauty pageant in 1926!).

Their menu offers simple summer fare, but the portions are plentiful and lean towards upscale taste and presentation.

The boardwalk itself is steeped in history and stretches from the Humber River Bridge to the Palais Royale Ballroom which gained its most popularity in 1932 for a swinging dance hall that was “the tops”, hosting big bands such as Duke Ellington and the Dorsey Brothers.

After your cafe visit, be sure to stroll along the remainder of the boardwalk towards the Sunnyside Pool originally built in 1925.
